In John 18:38 Pilate said to Jesus “What is truth?”. But this was not a true prayer because Pilate asked but did not wait to listen to an answer.

Hunt says that we often pray like Pilate. We ask for guidance but then go our own way. We pray for God’s will and then ignore the answer. We are comfortable talking to Jesus but we are not comfortable listening for His answer.

I Samuel 3:10 “Speak, Lord, for your servant is listening”. We listen by contemplation, studying, fasting or serving step by step.

Psalm 51:17 “A broken and contrite heart O God you will not despise.” But it is not about what we do. It is about what God is doing.

Philippians 2:13 “For it is God who works in you both to will and to work for His good pleasure”. Listen to Christ and He will prepare you for your next step” Do not be a Pilate. Ask and listen!!!
