Safety
Josue is allowing the girls to play volleyball on the front property while the boys play soccer on the back. We cannot afford for anyone to get hurt because a doctor’s visit would mean we have to quarantine them. So we keep the little ones at a safe…
School
Each dorm performed in some way to celebrate Independence Day. Last night Heidy had her little boys perform songs, dances & Mayan clothing. The house parents are doing a great job of keeping the children occupied. The Department of Education came to inspect our school and we are…
Independence Day
Normally we are in the states on the Guatemalan Independence Day and the children here participate in the village with parades, soccer & basketball competition as well as the choice of a queen. The children had a special Independence Day for all of us. It was awesome Of course,…
Dottie’s back
Georgie just informed us that a new law means she has to take a Covid-19 test before being able to return to Guatemala. Some of the teenagers got all of the younger children together and made drums & other instruments and then had a parade around the property.…
Valuable
I preached to the children on how valuable we are to God. Although we are still remaining in quarantine I cannot begin to tell you how proud I am of our staff and the children. But regardless of what it is happening in the world we are still…
Discipleship/Leadership
Jim has a tremendous discipleship program & teaches children in 5 dorms. I only have a small group of boys for a leadership teaching. Josue’ & Sebastian are working with each other virtually to prepare a handbook for dorm parents. One of Jim's discipleship classes watching a Christian…
Forgive me
I want to apologize if I appear worried on these updates. God has always told me “What you have you need, what you do not have you do not need”. Debbie is stilling doing all of Casa’s business as though she were in Lake Charles. For 31 years…
My home
We started the 4thsemester so the students from K-12Threceive their classwork daily from Billy while the university students are studying on line. The high school students receive video by USB . Billy & the house parents have a great program. Debbie took her family on a walk around…
Forgotten
I have no idea when Debbie & her family as well as thousands more of Lake Charles & Southwest Louisiana residents will be able to return to their homes. I am concerned that the damage done by Hurricane Laura is being forgotten by those from outside the region.…
Bunkie
Debbie says her family is very comfortable in Bunkie. First Baptist has made room for 11 of them and Will and Candice Bain are housing the other two. Debbie and Lori were set up by the church to be able to work on the Casa business. The word…
Studying
I spent most of the day studying except for the hour I have each Monday where I have a class of 8 boys who want to learn more about the Bible. Our area is no longer coronavirus red. We are a safer orange but we are surrounded by…
Worry
Rumors are that flights will be coming from the USA to Guatemala. I do not want to be ungrateful but please do not plan on sending teams before the end of the year until I deem it is safe. We are operating at less than half of our…
Seniors
The seniors have finished their classes but cannot do their practicum so Billy is waiting to see what the department of education says. We did take their senior photos today. We are still getting rain from the hurricane. Billy, Dottie and I with the seniors
Damage
Amnesty International announced that Mexico leads the world in coronavirus deaths among its health care workers. All of Central America is suffering the same way. Hurricane Nana did not reach us in the mountains. Only light rain was experienced. A gentleman in Honduras was on dialysis & died…
The car
Hurricane Nana hit Belize, Honduras & Guatemala. It was catagory one but quickly became just a tropical storm. There was much flooding in some areas but, of course, we are in the mountains so our danger will be mudslides. Debbie went to the house in Lake Charles and the…
The Bain’s
Debbie and her clan are going to Bunkie to the Bain’s home. This is my home town & I have known the Bain Family for years. They will still be a long way from Lake Charles so it will be difficult for them to go see the home…
4th quarter
We are beginning a new month still under quarantine and I am trusting the Lord that September will be better than August. Pray for Debbie and her family as this month starts with them still needing a place to stay until Lake Charles is livable again. The children…
Some loss
Chad, my son in Lake Charles, said that we lost our carport & the back window of our car so we feel very blessed. The house appears ok. However Lori’s trailer we destroyed. Folks from Crowley, La and Spring, Texas also called about helping Debbie.
Many good people
Three places replied to my plea for Debbie. Bunkie & Monroe Louisiana as well as Pennsylvania. I knew there were good people out there. I preached on love and respect in view of all the anger, abuse, hatred, virus, riots & even murders that are taking place during…
