Out of quarantine

The Lord sent us three new children last night which encourages me so much since the government has sent so many children back to their unhealthy situations. Each child we get is a soul who needs Jesus. Twenty-four kids left quarantine. We are Covid free on campus.

School days

Today, Friday, we began classes here on campus virtually. Every grade first through seniors will have a college boy or girl monitoring the class. Please pray for Billy, Flor and Kate as this is so very difficult. Some classes will receive class work from the teachers. Angelina will…

Where did it go?

School starts today (Friday) by remote. Pray that the children will watch their teachers virtually and pay attention. For some children sitting still is not a skill they have learned. I awoke this morning and immediately thought the following. "Make your life worthwhile". It is unbelievable that in…

Xela

Josue' and one of our social workers drove to Xela to bring a boy to court. It is more than a 3 hour drive so they left Casa at 5:30am. They got home at 4pm. One of Dottie's cousins passed away.

Accident

Quique returned by 8am as they casted his hand. It is a lousy time as universities begin soon and he will have to work left-handed. There was a five-vehicle accident with a umber of deaths in front of our entrance. Josue' and I went to pay the land…

Quique

Amy arrived last night to watch over the little boy's dorm while Heidy recovers from knee surgery. We sent the second group of older children to visit their families and 5 have tested positive so they will have to remain at their homes for 15 days & will…

Our little American Family

Billy and the teachers have one week before school starts. We will start the school year remotely so the children do not have much enthusiasm. Easily more than 80% have trouble concentrating by looking at a screen. Hopefully things will change soon. The American staff always eats Sunday…

The children’s stress

My heart is so saddened. This terrible pandemic is like being in a battle where your enemy is invisible. As we are about to begin another school year remotely many of the children and teens are experiencing sadness and last year studying was so difficult that we are…

Rosario is here

Rosario was raised at Casa with her sisters. She began college and got married. She continued to study and graduated with a degree in psychology. She is now on staff here with our other two psychologists so you can imagine how proud I am of her. Andres and…

Alarming news

I had a rough day. I had a severe headache so just simply listened to sermons literally all day. The headache allowed me to listen to over 10 sermons by Swindoll, Joni, Biggs, Stanley just to name a few, The national news today in Guatemala says that no…

Mental health in children

Josue began paying the yearly land taxes. Our property is in two different states. Our children are really struggling with the isolation. Remote teaching, not seeing parents for a year and not having visitors (especially sponsors) for two years has caused many to be sad, depressed, etc. When…

illness

One of our girls is being tested for rheumatic fever. Pray! We Will send her to a heart specialist. Also pray as we need shoes for the boys of all ages to size 9. It is critical that we have a man who knows carpentry, plumbing, handy man.

Switch dorms

The children changed dorms today as we do at the end of each year. They move with their age group but some are very sad because they move from their dorm parents who have cared for them. The cost of feeding the children has risen.

Home visit

The second large group of older children left today for 8 days with their families. Many of them saved their money from sponsors to purchase things for their family. They have such giving hearts. Mike & Amber left so we will miss them. They love the boys in…

Water, water everywhere

As we begin 2022 we have a sad heart. Aroldo who operates our dialysis ministry told me that he was asked by Dr, Lou to take 14 children in 2021. Sadly all 14 passed away. We need to open the dialysis hospital on campus where we can help…

Snake

I am stilI was so taken back with joy when Shirley brought me a summary of university classes that she has finished. She has completed 23 courses and her overall average is 93%. A few years ago we gave Andres and Estella a Doberman. There was a coral…

Praise the Lord

Aleluya!! The Lord has done it again. Andres and Estella are going to become house parents for Vencedores. Estella was raised here and lived in our home in order to help Dottiewith Michelle. They own two businesses in the city. He will go every morning to the city…

Ezdras

Ezdras and Marlin will leave Wednesday. Mike & Amber are coming today to substitute for Heidi in the little boy's dorm. Amy will follow them so that dorm should cover the dorm until Heidi returns from her surgery. Keep praying daily for dorm parents for Vencedores.

A miracle needed

We really had a hard blow today. The couple who said they were coming to be house parents are not able to come. Ezdras and Marlin have been here 3 years in Vencedores and have built a house in the city so are going to live there. We…

Lord’s Supper

The education department cannot come to an agreement as to when to start classes in January. As I write this it is the end of a great week for the children. They have been so understanding of what this week has meant. Heidy left this morning for her…
