Pastor Dave sang Happy Birthday to Quique. It was so good to see his face over the phone. He and I have more wonderful memories about his time here in Buen Pastor. 17 years we were together.

For more than 30 years I have opened the new school year with a welcome to the teachers and students. Each year is a new start, and I always pray that the children will be led by godly teachers. I concentrate on talking about teamwork, opportunities, respect and a positive attitude. I always say that they have an opportunity that many children in Central America do not have.

Another policeman was killed. The Guatemala president is considering sending the gang leaders to the max prison in El Salvador. Mexico has sent word they will help Guatemala with the gang problem here. The numbers of policemen killed are confusing ranging from 11 in the city and over 15 outside the city. The President says the army will be in siege posture for 30 days. We are safe where we are.

One of the most unusual names of God is WALL OF FIRE as seen in Zechariah 2:5. “For I, saith the Lord, will be unto her a WALL OF FIRE round about, and will be the glory in the midst of her.” This name is only found one time in the Bible.

The prophet is speaking of the city of Jerusalem after the exile. The Babylonians had destroyed the walls of Jerusalem. But God said that He would protect them by becoming a wall of fire. Fire is often referred to as God´s presence and protection.
