Ruebin

Marin and Rueben

Dottie was in a lot of pain this afternoon. We try to turn her to avoid bed sores, but she still is in pain. Never complains but only says that it hurts.

Independence Day traffic is unbelievable. One of our boys must be at work at 7am in the city so he left San Bartolome at 3:3am.

The administration decided to not allow the school children to carry the traditional Guatemalan flag in the highway. I totally agree because traffic and anger are prevalent. Our band marched on campus and the back road for the same reasons.

This photo of Rueben is a history lesson. He was mayor in 1992 when we moved to live in San Bartolome. It was him that God used to partner with us to run sewer lines one mile and a half from the village to Casa. He also allowed us to run water from the village also a mile and one half. The men in the village and our boys dug a trench which at some points were 15-20 feet deep due to the mountain.

When his mayoral term was over, he taught math at our school. Then he alternated between teaching math and serving as mayor. And today he is mayor. So, for nearly 35 years he has been so kind to us.

I preached yesterday on “How can I know I am saved?”

ÉH-YEH is another name for God and is first found in Exodus 3:14 and translates to “I AM”. 3:14 ”And God said unto Moses, I AM THAT I AM: and he said, Thus shall thou say unto the children of Israel, I AM has sent me to you. “I am God and there is no other” is a powerful statement found in the Book of Isaiah in 46:9 and 45:5. In these verses He says, “I am God and there is no other”. Israel was surrounded by nations with hundreds of false gods. It is there to tell us to reject all idols.
