Papi, I am going up

Dottie with our granddaughter

My favorite story about the children in dialysis was when one boy, age 15, was so ill that we thought he would die that night. We took him to the hospital and Dr. Lou examined him and said that the child would live another day and for Dottie and me to go home and come back the following day. We arrived home and there was a message to return to the hospital because he was going fast.

I entered his room and climbed into bed with him and held him across my chest. I asked him if Jesus was His Lord and Savior and he slapped me softly, laughed and spoke. “Papi, I´m going up. And I am going to see Antony and Melissa and he named all those who had died.”

I was jealous because I could only imagine the reunion of all those who died and were no longer ill. They were in the presence of Christ. Every dollar spent on the dialysis program was well worth it. We could not heal their bodies, but Jesus healed their souls. If you ever gave a penny to the dialysis program, I thank you.

There are more than 50 verses that speak of physical healing. Matthew 10:1, “Jesus called his twelve disciples to Him and gave them authority to drive out evil spirits and to heal every disease and sickness.”

Matthew 9:35 where He traveled through towns healing “Every illness and every disease.”  Psalm 30:2 says, “I cried out to you, and you heal me:” I know without a doubt that Jesus heals.
