KAJN Radio

Charles Rogers recently died. He was one of my first mentors.

I have been on KAJN Radio in Crowley, La. for more than 48 years. In two weeks my last show will air. Barry and Craig Thompson have been so faithful and loving towards Dottie and me. When I was called by God in 1988 to come to Guatemala, I told Barry that I could not stay on the air because it would be difficult financially since I would be living in Guatemala. Barry announced on the radio what I had said and in less than two weeks the listeners committed to 2 full years of support for me to stay on the air. M

I was on for so long that children who were forced by their parents to listen to me as they drove to school today are parents and even another generation is listening.   Three generations of people in South Louisiana listened daily to probably the worst radio voice in history.

I was terrible. Sometimes I would sing, and people would call me to tell me they were rolling on the floor laughing at my voice.

It has been an honor, and I will go to the grave knowing that hundreds were saved and hundreds of marriages were healed because God uses the most unlikely person to do His will. Hundreds of people and many teams supported CASA over the years.

So from the bottom of my heart, I thank the KAJN staff and the thousands of you who listened and helped to get the Gospel into the hearts of the 6000 children who have come to Casa. It has been a wild and glorious ride.

Abba is still another name for God. In Aramaic, “Abba” is a term of endearment for “father”, similar to “daddy” or “papa”. It signifies a close, intimate, and affectionate relationship with one´s father. It is used to express a deep, personal relationship with God, reflecting both intimacy and reverence. It implies a relationship of trust, love, and dependence, much like a child has with his father.

Jesus uses “Abba” to address God in prayer. Abba is used three times in the New Testament by Jesus in Mark 14:36 and twice by Paul in Romans 8:15 and Galatians 4:6. Jesus used this name for God when He began His prayer in Gethsemane.

When we say “Abba” it shows that we acknowledge He is our Father.
