George Muller

Jeremy and Amy from Oklahoma arrived with a large team and will be teaching our married couples the book Re-Engage. They will also do discipleship to the older young adults concerning relationships.
The university students are having tests today, June 1st.
Patti sent me the biography of George Muller which I immediately began to read. First I read my 6 chapters of the Bible as I normally do but then dove into Muller´s life. He read the Bible through over 200 times, He took 17 missionary tours beginning when he was 75 years old until age 86 years old, preaching in 42 different nations, preaching 8000 times to over 3 million people.
He personally paid for and gave away 13,949 Bibles and 9,047 New Testaments. He provided education to 121,683 school children thus earning the name “Father of the orphans”.
His 6 orphans homes housed 2000 children and he never asked man for a dime. His life is so rich with lessons I wish that I could emulate.
One thing that just jumped off the page about his daily reading of the Bible for hours was “What George read, he lived”. As much as I love and respect him, I have never even come close to emulating his relationship depth with Jesus.
I discovered that George was moved by a minister, August Franckes, who cared for thousands of orphans. The ministry lasted for over 100 years. ¨ He lived in the late 1600s and his ministry continued throughout the 1700s. He opened the first Protestant school for high school girls and a home for 2000 orphans.
So just as I have loved and felt George Muller in my life, he also had a minister to inspire him. Our God is an awesome God.
George Muller´s life revolved around giving. He read the Bible through 4 times a year. He co-pastored a church of 1200 also.
