#166 Our story

We received three children during the night. They are 14, 8 and 9 years old. Rick & his son, Nate, arrived for a short visit. At 4 o’clock this morning we received 5 more children ages 1, 3, 6, 8 and 10 years of age.  So that is 8 new children in a 5 hour period.

Dottie and I drove to Pixabaj where we had built a church. The neighbor had a deed and 6 inches of the church was on his property. He would not let me buy that six inches. So we will build an inside wall and reverse the entrance and the pulpit.

An Indian family came with an appeal from a judge that we would take a baby only 5 days old because the family did not want her because she conceived in a rape. Of course we took her.

I was following a large truck loaded with hay when I noticed movement in the hay. A man sat up to stretch at the same moment we came to a police roadblock. The police saw him and arrested him before digging in the hay where they found 3 more men.

On September 1, 1995 Dottie and I took 7 girls to a hotel in Panajachel to celebrate their 15thbirthdays. This was the first time any of them had been on a boat or stayed in a hotel. It would become a tradition we have celebrated ever since.

A bus in Poaquil carrying some of the members of the church we built there ran off the mountain and killed 12 people.

September 28, 1995. We were able to get the 50 pound commercial washer installed. It will revolutionize our laundry problem. Today was also when the elementary students perform skits and songs for their parents.
