worship and praise #2

The couple who will be the interim house parents came this afternoon to see the dorm & talk with Jim, Kate, Josue as well as Dottie and me. The wife, Marlin Estephany, was raised here. Her husband is Ezdras and they have a 6 week old baby. He will also lead our music ministry. He hands in his resignation where he is now working and three weeks are required by law for him to work but they will begin moving their belongings this week. Thanks to all of you who are praying for us.

We saw yesterday that the first two methods of worshipping God are singing and the lifting of our hands. The third method of praise is found in Hebrews 13:15 “Therefore by Him let us continually offer the sacrifice of praise to God, that is, the fruit of our lips, giving thanks to His name.”

God wants us to speak to others about His Son Jesus. He also wants our words to be honoring to Him. The Bible says sweet and bitter cannot come from the same place. We need to guard our lips. Your words are the third method for praising the Lord.

This verse in Hebrews says that we are to give thanks to His name. We Christians should be totally aware of how blessed we are. He expects us to be thankful in order to praise Him as commanded in Hebrews.

The fourth method of praise is found in Psalm 149:3 “Let them praise His name with the dance; let them sing praises to Him with the timbrel and the harp”. God expects us to move our feet when we worship Him. He expects that we use musical instruments to bless His name.

Music is a major source of joy and gladness in the world. But worldly music is not what God desires for us. He wants us to worship Him and as long as we sing, lift our hands, speak, thank Him, dance and play instruments in His name we will honor Him.
