The new interim house parents, Ezdras and Marlin Estefany, moved into Vencedores today.

This week will be very busy with the board meeting from Wednesday through Friday; family day on Wednesday and Sports day on Thursday. To top it off Monday the staff will be off for Labor Day. A team will arrive Saturday. So this week will be very busy.

The animal that most people think of when they are thinking of diligence is the beaver. The beaver does not seem to rest as he is always working. He cuts down trees and gathers food as he builds his dam.

But the opposite of diligence is laziness. The opposite of a beaver is the sloth. The European explorers were the one who named the sloth. Sloth literally means slow. I am sure you have seen a sloth in action. They hardly move at all.

Sadly there are many Christians who are like the sloth. They are lazy spiritually and can hardly move when it comes to working for the Lord. Proverbs 19:15 says, “Slothfulness (laziness) casteth into a deep sleep; and an idle soul shall suffer hunger”. Many people live in poverty not because of anything other than they are too lazy to do what is required of them.

Proverbs 6:9 says, “How long will thou sleep, O sluggard? When will you arise out of your sleep?” The inability to rise early from your bed and do as God has asked is a sign of laziness. Proverbs 26:14 says, “As the door turns upon his hinges, so doth the slothful upon his bed”. The sloth spends 90% of its time hanging by its legs.

When you watch a sloth move it appears that he believes that he has an abundance of time. One sloth took 48 days to travel 4 miles. You and I have been given a certain amount of time to live our lives and stay busy for Jesus. We need to stay busy in the areas that God has called us to.
