A Christian is called to be a servant. We should want to be a servant for Christ. Romans 6:16: “Know you not, that to whom you yield yourselves servants to obey, his servants you are to whom you obey; whether of in unto death or of obedience unto righteousness”.
We will always choose whom we want to serve. We are never forced by God to submit and obey Him. It is a choice as to whether we will be His servant or not. Of course, it is best to serve Him.
We have responsibilities when we become Christians. The reason we obey is because we want to obey. We are not forced to obey. “All have sinned and fallen short of the glory of God”. (Romans 3:23). No one serves because they are perfect. He calls sinners to salvation not perfect people because there are no perfect people. Do not use the excuse that you are weak and cannot serve.
Salvation comes about because we submit to His will and believe in our hearts. It is that same mind we must have if we are to serve Him. We need to take the work he has called us to and do it obediently. His Word and work should permeate our lives and cause us to want to be His servant.
