Jesus carries the burdens

We had breakfast with Dwight who is the founder of the Montgomery County Prayer Group.

Dottie went to Nashville with Shawna to serve at a soup kitchen. Thom and I attended a men’s conference here in Clarksville. There were over 500 men there.

Water is rising in creeks and rivers and there is wide spread flooding from Texas to Michigan including where we are.

As I told you I read a little book by Minirth about depression. He has excellent suggestions for handling depression. Some of you have the idea that Dottie and I are super Christians when we actually are so flawed. In addition to what I had already given you let us read II Corinthians 5:17. “Therefore if any man be in Christ he is a new creature”.

The knowledge that Christ died for our sins and our acceptance of Him as Savior is possible the most important was to handle stress. When we give our lives to Jesus we become new people. The old things are changed. It is not our physical bodies or our circumstances that change. It is our spirit man.

The Holy Spirit dwells in me. Acceptance of Jesus does not mean my depression leaves immediately. But He begins a work in me. I cannot stay depressed. The ministry at Casa is like a roller coaster that goes up and then down. Accepting Jesus allows me to stay “up” more than I stay “down”.

We have had so many “inspections” and attacks by government agencies that I am up and down. One group comes and says we are doing a wonderful job whereas another may come the same week and say we are capable of doing better.

Over the years I have learned that if I do not allow Jesus to carry my burdens the stress will crush me. Give it all to Jesus!
