“For the Son of Man will come in the glory of His Father with His angels, and then He will REWARD each according to his works”. (Matthew 16:27) See also Revelation 22:12 and II John 1:8. God’s heart is to reward His children for what they have done on this earth.

Kelvin Smith speaks of the rewards for Christians in his book “Living on Target”. There are five crowns we can receive by obedience. First, there is the crown of life which is given for love, faithfulness or martyrdom for Jesus. (James 1:12)

Second there is the imperishable crown given for spiritual discipline & perseverance in the Christian life. (I Corinthians 9:24-25). We are told that we need to not fall short but endure through this life until the end. Do not accept His love and then grow cold.

Third there is the crown of rejoicing (I Thessalonians 2:19) which is giving your life into discipleship and evangelism. Being a witness!

Fourth is the crown of glory which is being faithful to represent Christ by spiritual leadership. Finally there is the crown of righteousness that is given for preparing yourself and others to meet Jesus by loving and awaiting His coming again.

God wants to bless you with crowns. It is not self-seeking. It is accepting His loving desire to give you crowns for His glory. Bless Him by living a life that pleases Him.
