Hebrews 10:24-25, “Let us consider how we can spur one another on toward love and good works.” Encouragement is one of the keys to a healthy marital relationship. If encouragement is missing in a marriage that marriage may be headed to divorce court.

Encouragement is not a very expensive gift to give to your spouse. A touch, a wink, a telephone call, a card or a few words! Encouragement is what we do in order to stay in love. I have made so many mistakes and I have been emotionally down so often & yet I have always had Dottie standing there helping me cope.

Encouragement will get you encouragement in return. Bitterness begets bitterness but encouragement begets encouragement. This is called building up one another and Paul speaks frequently about that. When I am encouraged I feel better about myself and I can accomplish so much more. I feel less burdened. I can conquer what is in front of me.

We all struggle so we all need encouragement. Give it to your spouse and see what happens.
