In all my years as a husband this was the first turkey I have cooked. No one got ill so I have to consider that a success. Tatiana & Celia helped make all of the side dishes.

Gladys used the boys in my house to begin cleaning the Christmas building. As my personal assistant she will be taking over much of the Christmas buying & planning.

“May you be strengthened with all power, according to his glorious might, for all endurance and patience with joy. ” (Colossians 1:11)  Strength is the right word. The apostle Paul prayed for the church at Colossae, that they would be “strengthened with all power, according to his glorious might, for all endurance and patience. ”Patience is the evidence of an inner strength.

Impatient people are weak, and therefore dependent on external supports — like schedules that go just right and circumstances that support their fragile hearts. Today, New Year’s Day, I was responsible for the kitchen since Dottie is confined to bed.  The thought of messing up a turkey that I was cooking caused me to become so impatient. I snapped and growled.

In other words “I was weak in character and for a while made a few people around me uneasy. Of course, Dottie forgave me as did the kids and we all survived my cooking. Well, at least until this writing.

When I am impatient I become weak in faith, weak in love and tolerance and weak in character. Only patience gives us strength of character. I do not make new year resolutions but patience is certainly a goal that I neeed to reach.
