There was a heap of hurt on me due to problems with the judges and other government officials while I was in the states. In fact the judges sent 23 children home. I am almost overwhelmed…but not defeated.
The good news was that in the area academic competition Allison, Cade, Rocio, Gustavo & Karla placed first in language for their age group while Antoni & Lorenzo placed second & Kate finished third in math. So we were well represented in the elementary division.
In one week Dottie & I will attend the graduation of Oscar from the University of San Carlos as he receives his architect degree. He is Josue’s brother. Josue’s thesis was accepted, approved and his orals will be forthcoming this month so he also will also graduate this year.

Both universities are located in Guatemala City.
The story is told of an old man who lived in the Alps who was known as Keeper of the Stream. He had been there so long no one remembered he was there. Yet, he cleaned the streams running into the largest stream so that villages below the mountains would have clean water.
The children loved swimming in the clear water; the townspeople drank and used the clean water; everyone was so happy with their beautiful clean stream of running waters. However, the leaders of the villages below thought that the old man was there long enough so they quit paying his small salary causing him to leave the mountain.
Soon debris such as leaves, limbs, rocks, farm wastes and dirt starting making their way from the top of the mountain to the villages below. Soon the wage was brackish and could not be used for drinking, cooking or even swimming. Even the birds and animals left the area looking for clean water.
The life of the villages depended on the stream and the stream depended on the old man. The HEALTH of the village depended upon the stream.
Your soul is the stream that runs from God to earth and you are the KEEPER OF YOUR STREAM.
