Wendy singing

skype 006Wendy who is on dialysis sang last night in front of all of the children, teens and adults. Part of the song was “With my life I will adore you”.  It was probably one of the top 10 spiritual experiences in my life. She has a death sentence unless God works a miracle yet she is singing praises to His name. She is third girl from the left.

We worked in the Christmas bodega as Juan built the new shelves. It will be a much easier situation to maneuver around. We already have all of the gifts for Vencedores and some gifts for the others.

I remember the movie about Eric Liddel, who won a gold medal at the 1924 Olympic Games in Paris. Exactly one year later he was a missionary in China. The movie, Chariots of Fire, had a footnote at the end of the film. It simply said “Eric Liddel, missionary, died in occupied China at the end of World War II. All of Scotland mourned.”

He carried the Gospel of Gospel of Jesus to rural China by foot or on a bicycle. The war saw him accused of being an enemy and he went to a concentration camp in 1943.  Prisoners said of him after his death that they had never seen anyone more dedicated to God first, others second and himself last.

When asked why he ran track he answered “When I run I feel God’s pleasure”.  He was selfless and is still a model of service to God that we can imitate.
