Reflection

Dr Herman and myself. A friendship of 36 years.

As we begin the last week of 2025, I have been reflecting on so many things. Dottie´s health is at the top of the list of course.

When you marry at 18 and live a long healthy life for 80 years it is a real shock when your bride becomes so ill that you cannot even travel and she cannot do the simple tasks. The covenant you make at the wedding ceremony is so tested when your spouse is crippled and her mind fading. I doubt if you can make sense of this statement, but I have come to love Dottie even more deeply as we walk this very hard path together.

We have walked 61 years with energy and health and now the last two years have been walked with the same faith.

I think the name of God that best fits what I have just written is found in Psalm 121:5, “The Lord is my KEEPER: the Lord is thy shade upon thy right hand.”

This is the only place in the Bible where God is referred to as our KEEPER. The name refers to His protection, provision and watchfulness. Our heavenly Father literally watches over us. He guards us from all harm, both physically and spiritually, day and night, in all our activities.
