Exactly 31 years ago I was called by a pastor in Chimaltenango that a woman and her two daughters were thrown out into the street and had no place to go. I had performed the funeral of her husband earlier that year.
In fact the police stopped the funeral and performed an autopsy in the grave yard.
Dottie and I went and got her and her girls and she became our very first employee.
After 30 years at Casa she is leaving this week to live with her daughter. Tears flowed. She, Dottie and I were the only staff members for a year
