Even though Thanksgiving is not a holiday here in Guatemala, we still celebrated it in style! We started the day by letting the girls sleep in while we prepared a special breakfast for them (French toast and lots of coffee!). Later Jim and I enjoyed a wonderful traditional Thanksgiving meal with the rest of the American staff, complete with turkey and all the trimmings. We shared in the preparation by each bringing a part of the meal. It was a fantastic spread! And we all got totally stuffed! We finished the day by preparing a special meal for the girls’ dinner – chili dogs (picante and mild chili were offered), nacho chips, cheesy mashed potatoes, juice, cake and ice cream (I am definitely not getting on the scale in the morning). Earlier in the week we had each of the girls write 10 things they were thankful for, with the plan of reading excerpts from each one at dinner. Well they all wrote them and handed them in, but we didn’t get a chance to share them, so I will do that during devotions tomorrow evening.
I hope all of you had a safe and happy Thanksgiving celebration!
God bless!
Jim & Kate
