So, yes, it has been forever since I last posted. We got derailed last year with a bunch of stuff that happened in the dorm. But we have survived our first year at Casa, learned from our mistakes (hopefully), and look forward to all the awesome things God has planned for us and the boys! I may not post everyday, but I promise not to disappear again for long stretches either. Though Facebook will still be our primary posting location, I want to keep those of you who don’t FB informed of all the happenings here in Buen Pastor.
So what’s been happening lately…this is a busy birthday month. My birthday was the 3rd, and 6 of our boys have birthdays this month. We have 37 boys currently ages 13-20, with each age having its unique challenges. But we’ve had some great stuff happening too. Jim has taken the boys through several studies now that will get repeated throughout the year. He took them through Resolutions for Men based on the movie Courageous, El Enojo by Gary Chapman which deals with anger issues, La Batalla de Cada Hombre (Every Man’s Battle) which deals with purity, and they are currently doing a series called Bible Times that all the kids at Casa are doing. Jim also just started a small discipleship group to work with just a few of the boys that show desire to become spiritual leaders in the dorm. He’s using a book called Lead Me, Holy Spirit by Stormie Omartian. He and I are currently going through this book ourselves during our devotions time and it has been very helpful.
Saving the best for last…last night two of our boys gave us an awesome surprise. They asked us to come outside (first me, then I sent Jim out) and they washed our feet! Then they asked to pray with us. I was totally humbled and honored. The cool thing about it is that one of the boys professes to not be a Christian. Pray for him, that he might finally have a softening of heart and accept Jesus!
